Doctor's appointments and a camping trip

Hi! Hope this finds everyone doing well.
Well, Monday we started our day with a phone call from Hannah's doctor. They were wondering if she was going to come in for her 4 year old check up that I had forgotten to schedule. I was referred to the receptionist, who asked if we could be in there in an hour.
So, after rushing through breakfast, our new morning chores and getting ready, we headed over. She did well, in the 75% for both her height and weight. Then they asked if we wanted to go ahead and get her kindergarten shots out of the way. I said, why not.
So, she did that. Well, since that was NO fun, we ran home ate some lunch and then went to the park with a bunch of sports equiptment. We played a little soccer and tennis before the kids decided to just go to the playground. While they did that, I continued to play against a wall some tennis. It was nice. Chris and I used to play all the time in Joplin when we were dating. It was a regular thing that when family visited, we cooked out or picnicked and played tennis. I had forgotten how much fun it was and how many good memories I had.
Anyways, around 4:30, we headed home in order to get ready for Nathan's last t-ball game. It was a good one. he got to play short stop, 1st base and outfielder. At the end of the game, he exchanged phone numbers with a friend of his, Will. His parents are really nice, and we said we would have to get the kids together again.
Tuesday, we woke up and did our regular chores. Kept a pretty good schedule.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. After the t-ball game Monday, we were going to grill some hamburgers in celebration. I decided that while Chris was making the hamburgers outside, I would cook up some bacon in the kitchen. I went out side for maybe 5 minutes to take Chris some cheese to put on the burgers when they were ready and he looked in the window and said, "hey, .....HEY!!!! our kitchen is on fire!" We both ran in and I shut the burner off while Chris grabbed the handle of the pan with a mit and took it outside. He threw it in the ditch and went inside to find our fire extinguisher while I got Nathaniel's water gun and kept the ground around the pan wet. The apartment STUNK!! So we ended up eating outside while the apartment aired out. We ushered the kids inside for bed with towels over their noses and mouths so they wouldn't breathe the stench. I felt really stupid.
Anyways, we just played at home Tuesday, keeping a good schedule.
Wednesday, we got up, did our chores, because our motivation is that if we do the work first, then we can spend all day doing fun, but if we do the fun first, we will end up working all day. That keeps them on track!! :-)
Then, they decided they wanted to go to Once upon a child to play in their play area. I looked at stuff in their sizes for the fall and baby stuff for Cindy and Chris Coker. Then Hannah spotted this really neat puppet castle. She had put her fisher price little people in storage because she was ready to play with big girl toys, so we had in mind to garage sale them.
Well, Once upon a child is a consignment shop, so we took the play sets in and ended up getting almost $25 for it. We brought home the puppet playhouse and a set of geo trak stuff for Nathan and had cash to spare. Yahoo! We need it.
Chris got off at 4, so we spent the evening ready books and just hanging out.
Today, we got up, did our chores and such and Nathan and Chris went out to do guy stuff. Hannah and I stayed home and baked sugar cookies. After Chris went to work, we finished our lunches and got ready for our friend Gretchen to come and play.
She got here around 1:30. We see her at church, but it has been a while since we have gotten to catch up. She is a junior at Missouri Western with a heart to do mission work in Asia. Such a blessing to call her friend. She stayed until almost 5 and then headed home. She is going to meet us sometime next week or the week after that at Bartlett park to have a water fight, picnic and play. We cleaned up the rest of our toys and ate supper and had baths. The kids are in bed for now. Nathan and I are going to camp in the back yard when I am done here and when Chris gets home in about 40 minutes.
He has been wanting to go camping for some time. We don't own a tent, though. We just have this play house thing. So we are going to try that. Chris said that if he likes it, maybe we can go camping next summer after investing in all the equiptment.
So, that is it. The kids already did in advance their room chore for tomorrow in the hopes that we can do something fun. I am thinking that since it has been a while since we visited the train walking place that we might do that in the morning. WE are supposed to get really hot tomorrow, so afternoon will be spent inside doing something simple.
Hope this finds you all well.
In regards to Chris, a friend of his got word from Russ (store manager) that he didn't need a reason to keep Chris. That he would force Chris out. Meanwhile, the human resource manager at a new Lowes in Decatur, Texas called today. They are looking for qualified managers from inside the company to transfer and wondered if he was interested. We are praying about it. We really feel like there are too many coincidences here in St. Joseph to leave, but we know that we are never to feel at home while we are here on earth. That our true home is in heaven.
Just hard to think about moving when we are so established here and ready to go for school, but we will follow where He leads us. Please be in prayer for that.
That if we are meant to stay, that things at Lowes will settle down and there will be peace between Russ and Chris. And that if we are meant to move on, that God will make bold moves to show us His way.
Always in my heart!
And now off to sleep in the yard with a 5 year old and his pack of puppies!! :-)
