Hi all! Sorry it has been over a week. Things have been a little wild here. I think the last time I updated was last Tuesday.
So I guess I will start there. I went to the doctor Wednesday morning because I wasn't feeling any better. After waiting for a couple of hours, doctor decided that I had a respiratory infection and put me on 4 different medicines. I was given an inhaler for the wheezing and short breath, and cough medicine to get the bronchitis out of my lungs and etc. Today was the last dose of one medicine and I still have the inhaler and one other to finish. After doing that, we had life group here. It was the last official group meeting, however, I think most of us are going to keep getting together on Wednesday nights just to keep up. We had pizza and watched Chronicles of Narnia together. It was a lot of fun.
Then Thursday, the kids and I just hung out. I was a little loopy on the medicines and the kids really wanted to go to the park, so since it was chilly, I decided at 2pm that surely the McDonalds play yard wouldn't be too bad. (I hate those things). Anyways, we went there. I didn't take a watch with me, so we ended up playing there for over 3 hours. The kids had a blast. There was one other family there and the lady and her mother and I had a good visit. We exchanged phone numbers and they are putting together a ministry where older moms mentor younger moms and are calling it Apples to Gold. It was really encouraging. I had no idea that a trip to McDonalds without buying anything could turn out so well.
I don't really remember Friday, so I guess it wasn't anything major??? :-)
Saturday was Hannah's skating birthday party. She was really excited. She dressed up in what she calls her "Cinderella" dress. Two other little girls her age were there and we went skating at 11:30am because the skating place said it might be less busy. They were right. We and maybe two other groups were there. When the kids and I left at 1:30, there were 4 birthday parties coming in. Anyways, she was glad for the small environment. She, Ruthy, Mary Rose, and Nathan took off across the skating rink hand in hand. It was really sweet. We packed goodie bags with snacks in them since it ran over the lunch hour. She opened her gifts and got some really neat things. Ruthy got her a princess wand, which when we got home and started playing with it, I didn't think we were ever going to get inside. The wind caught the ribbon and made it all sparkly and stuff. It was "magic". Mary Rose got her a purse and a butterfly necklace with clip on earrings. The necklace and earrings were the biggest hit. After getting everything inside and getting ready to take Nathan to his T-ball game, she got all gussied up in her earrings, necklace, and with her Cinderella dress and fluffy bedtime slippers. We laughed about how dressed up she was to go to a ball game.
Nathan's first t-ball game was at 4 so we headed to that after playing a little. He was so excited. They got to play 3 whole innings. He got to play position of pitcher, short stop and left field. He was the last batter, so when he was up to bat, he ran all the bases. It was like hitting a homerun every time. He really liked it. In the game, there are no outs, and no strikes and everyone bats and everyone plays a different postion every inning. He is so excited to be a part of that team and it will be good for him to do this summer as he is starting to get sad about the idea of being done with school.
Sunday was Mothers Day, and so we went to church and then came home. I was feeling a little too much like a woman, so I didn't want to do much. So we played trains on the floor and played my little ponies on the floor. When Chris got off work at 5, they made supper and we sat and visited and ate and then played 2 board games before bed. It was a nice, laid back day.
Monday was the school's playday at Bartlett Park, so Hannah and I went to that. We got to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made by the kids and got to just run around. It was really fun. Then she and I headed out to find ponies to put on her birthday cake. No luck but we did find a crown she could make for her own birthday crown. We made that and then picked up Nathan. Came home to have Abbie, the neighbor's niece, over to play for a while before Nathan's 2nd t-ball game. We went to that and Nathan was 3rd batter. They played 1 1/2 innings before a torrential downpour happened. We were soaked to the bone by the time we came home. It was fun. We took off our soaking clothes, had baths early and drank hot chocolate while covered in a warm blanket watching a Veggie tales movie. Then we sent Hannah to bed so Nathan and I could decorate for Hannah's birthday. We hung up pink streamers, pink balloons and my little pony birthday banner. Set out her presents and got ready to bake the cake. Nathan went to bed and Chris made the cake when he got home.
Nathan was up early yesterday to finish the cake off, so we did that just in time.
Hannah woke up and we had pancakes and juice. Then she opened our gifts. The hit of the morning was the stuffed Pinkie Pie that Chris had gotten on E-bay. The other big one was the playdoe that Grandma Crosswhite had sent in the mail. Around 11am, we headed to Kansas City with a picnic lunch so we could check out "Penguin Park". We had seen it online and it looked cool.
Wow!! When we got there, you should have seen the kids faces. They had seen nothing like it. WE ate our lunches and then played for probably 4 hours before Chris tore the seat of his pants out while going down a huge slide with Hannah. We had to run to a thrift shop and buy him some shorts so we could finish out the day.
After that, Hannah wanted to go to the local mall and walk Pinkie pie in her pink stroller around, so we did that. On our way home, we went by Toys-r-us and with some of her birthday money, she got a my little pony hair twirler set. She was really excited about that.
We came home to make her birthday dinner of meat balls and macaroni & cheese. Abbie was at Brett and Amy's again, so we had her over for birthday cake. They played dress up for a while and then it was bedtime.
And that is about all. Here we are today kind of taking it easy. Hannah has been playing ponies this morning and I have been doing some house work since it is a little behind. Tomorrow is Nathan's kindergarten shots, and Friday we are going to the first home game of the St. Joe Blacksnakes. Then, next week is when we get ready to head to Hays for my sister's wedding. We are excited about that, but it is hard to believe it is already here.
The week after that we are headed to Branson for our anniversary/family vacation and to start summer break.
I hope all of you have been well this week. I think of you often and pray that God is working in your lives to keep you focused on Him!!
Will hopefully write again before it is this long between times. :-)
Till then, all our love!
