Hello all!
Wednesday Chris had off, so we headed to the downtown library. We haven't been there in quite a while. The kids and I when we first moved here used to go to story time down there. They have made many comments about wanting to see Ms. Ginger and Ms. Dee. We saw Ms. Ginger and caught up with her. We signed up for the summer reading program and picked a whole bunch of books. We headed home for lunch and then we decided that with the weather being hot, we would watch a movie together. We watched the Kipper movie we had borrowed from the library.
We finished the day together just playing outside once the shade and breeze kicked in. Thursday Chris had an interview via phone with the Lowes store in Decatur. He said he spent about 1 1/2 hours on the phone with them. The kids and I just stayed here and hung out.
Friday we talked about the possiblity of a move. The kids were not thrilled but said they would pray that God would tell us what to do. We packed a picnic and headed to Krug park. After eating, we hiked around the "st. joseph zoo", which is basically some deer, cows, buffalo, and donkeys that are underfed. The deer came right up to the fence. There were 4 little fawns frolicking around. The two mothers were really hungry and the buck was too. It was kind of sad. We talked about whether or not to say anything. We had seen a news special a couple months ago about it and that the missouri dept. of conservation said they were fine, but it is hard not to feel for them when they seem so hungry.
We finished the day doing a little grocery shopping. When we got home, a message was on the machine from the human resource person in TX. chris called them and they offered him the job.
So, after the kids went to bed, we got online and did some serious research. We made a list of what we felt, and are feeling more a peace about turning the job down. Both of us agreed that there were too many consequences here in St. Joe and that from what we saw online, it would me more dangerous, less likely to work out and we just felt in our hearts that the move wasn't right. Chris is going to talk with them Monday and let them know.
Today the kids and I worked really hard on finishing up getting things cleaned up before we head out for our vacation/trip to Joplin and Texas.
I say Joplin first because now it has become quite a spot light for our trip to see Grandma and Papa Crosswhite. We have been looking forward to this for a while, because it will be the first time seeing where God has taken G & P Crosswhite. Chris and I had mentioned to our friends Mark and Rachel Bond about seeing them for supper on our way through. Then Chris was scheduled to work till 4, putting us in Joplin around 7. We decided maybe we should make it a stop and head to Texas in the morning. We were going to just get a hotel room after seeing the Bonds. Well, in the graciousness of their hearts, the Bonds offered for us to bunk at their new home instead. Well, as you can imagine, Hannah went wild. The thought of getting to sleep over and one of her friend's house was cool. And Chris and I are excited about getting to hear about how God has been working in their lives the last month. We are all excited about the opportunity to catch up. So, when we talk about the trip to G & P's, it is prefaced from Hannah with, "And to Joplin, where Ruthy lives". It has been such habit to call it the trip to G & P's that I have been reminded all week that it isn't just a trip to see them. It is fun!
Tomorrow, our plan is to head to church early and on our way, set off some bug bombs. This annoying bush in front of our house had been showing signs of being infested with fleas, ticks and mosquitos. So, we burned the roots out of it and are setting off the bombs tomorrow. We want to get ahead of the problem before it starts. Then we will pack our bags and prep the car Monday. We are planning another trip to the library on Tuesday to see if we can get some good car trip movies for the ride.
I might get a chance to write again before Wednesday. If not, I will have to update when we return around the 20th.
I hope this finds you all doing well and as always, you are often on my mind and in my thoughts and prayers.
To Him who is faithful!
